How to choose an industrial vacuum table?

In industry, production operations can generate a variety of pollutants such as dust, gases, vapors, fumes and particles. To maintain a healthy and safe working environment for employees, it’s important to have an effective extraction system to capture and eliminate these pollutants.

Stand-alone or connected vacuum tables

Stand-alone or connectable suction tables are generally used toextract and filter fine dust and/or gases released during welding, sanding, cleaning, weighing, dust removal from parts, gluing, puttying, etc… operations.

They provide a comprehensive solution for extracting pollutants at source and, if necessary, filtering and treating the air, recycling it into the premises or discharging it outside.

Choosing the right vacuum table is crucial to ensuring maximum vacuum efficiency. In fact, an unsuitable suction table can lead to a reduction in air quality and an increase in health and safety risks for workers.

At OberA, there are two main types of suction table: stand-alone suction tables equipped with an on-board suction and filtration system, and suction tables to be connected to a dust collector or to an existing remote suction network via a duct, hose or pipe. Each of these two categories is available in ATEX gas and/or dust versions, for installation in ATEX zones and/or for the extraction of explosive dusts or gases.

STAND-ALONE VACUUM TABLES

Self-contained suction tables fall into 4 categories:

  • BAS-V self-contained tables for vacuuming large quantities of dust. These tables are equipped with an integrated dust collector with automatic filter cleaning by pneumatic unclogging. The integrated dust collector is fitted with filter cartridges and an automatic cleaning system that maintains suction efficiency even in the presence of heavy dust.
  • BAS self-contained tables for low-volume, intermittent dust extraction. These tables are equipped with disposable saturation filters.
  • BAS-CA tables for vacuuming solvents and gases. These tables are equipped with activated carbon modules to adsorb gaseous pollutants (odors, VOCs, glue vapors, solvents).
  • BAS-V-CA stand-alone tables with combined dust and VOC filtration technologies, featuring combinations of the technologies listed above. BAS-V-CA stand-alone vacuum tables are equipped with dust filtration and an activated carbon filtration stage.

For potentially explosive areas, it is essential to choose an ATEX vacuum table to guarantee worker safety. The BAS-V stand-alone vacuum table in its ATEX version is suitable if you’re dealing with large quantities of explosive dust, while the BAS stand-alone vacuum table in its ATEX version is suitable for small quantities of explosive dust.

If you process VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), solvents or vapors, it’s important to opt for a vacuum table equipped with activated carbon for better filtration of these pollutants. The BAS-CA stand-alone suction table with activated carbon is suitable for non-ATEX VOCs.

All oberA stand-alone vacuum tables can be supplied in ATEX dust or gas versions for installation in Zone 22 dust or Zone 2 gas.

REJECTS

All oberA self-contained tables can be fitted with a tubed clean air outlet to direct the table’s filtered air discharge outside the building, or outside a confined work area, to generate a relative vacuum. This can be useful for creating a pressure gradient in areas with a controlled atmosphere (clean rooms or grey rooms, for example).

Self-contained tables are generally located in the heart of manufacturing areas; it is often difficult to discharge treated air outside. All self-contained tables are available in filtration class H. In this case, they are fitted with a high-efficiency HEPA H13 or H14 police filter.

CONNECTING SUCTION TABLES

Connectable suction tables are designed to be connected to a remote suction and filtration system.

The type of filtration (dust collector, saturation filter, activated carbon filter) must be adapted to the pollutants drawn in.

All oberA connectable suction tables are available in ATEX dust or gas versions for installation in zone 22 dust or zone 2 gas.

For non-ATEX dusts, an AT table combined with a Dustomat 4.24 dust collector is suitable, while for ATEX dusts, an ATEX AT table and a Dustomat 4.24 ATEX dust collector are required.

For the treatment of non-ATEX VOCs, an AT table with an ePURBOX or VACUMAT suction box fitted with activated carbon will be perfectly suitable, whereas if you are treating ATEX VOC gases, an ATEX AT table and an ePURBOX ATEX or MOBFAN ATEX suction box fitted with activated carbon will be required.

Finally, when tables are used to extract both dusts (smoke, dust, etc.) and solvents (VOCs, odors, vapors, etc.), an AT table combined with an ePURBOX mobile housing with extension and 3 stages of filtration (2 stages with saturation filters and one stage of charcoal) or a DUSTOMAT 4-24 with activated charcoal terminal filtration is the best choice.
