Wood dust and particle filtration: 5 air purifiers for workshop testing

Woodworking generates numerous dust particles (wood chips, fine particles) as well as VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which present health risks for operators. Added to this are odor nuisances, depending on the type of wood and the operations carried out, such as sawing, sanding, assembly and the industrial drying process. Opting for a quality air purifier is therefore essential, to ensure healthy air in the workshop and the comfort of your teams.

Industrial air purifiers: which filtration system for woodworking?

As a general rule, we recommend HEPA (High Efficiency Air) particle filters to eliminate all types of pollutants produced by woodworking, sanding and cutting machines. They are capable of capturing particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as viruses and bacteria.

However, wood particles are not the only pollutants. In fact, the air in your workshop can circulate more volatile contaminants such as VOCs, glue vapours and chemical products. These pollutants represent health risks for your operators, since the smaller the particle, the more dangerous it is for the body.

An activated carbon filter is also recommended to filter out odors, gaseous pollutants and VOCs.

To best meet the needs of workshops, OberA offers several ranges of industrial air purifiers with configurable filtration systems(carbon filter, particulate filter). This makes it easy to customize the unit’s various filtration stages to suit the type of pollutants generated by your manufacturing processes.

ePUR: the robust, reliable air purifier range

The ePUR range of purifiers meets the varied needs of industrial users, treating a wide typology of pollutants: dust, odors, fumes, VOCs and oil mist. This makes them ideal for both the wood industry and other sectors. The purifiers in the range are equipped with several filtration stages that can be configured according to the pollutants to be treated (G4 + H13 filter and activated carbon for treatment of gases, odors and solvents, for example). Available with the EPUR CA option, equipped with a carbon filter for odor treatment. It’s also possible to combine ePUR and EPUR CA with a filter extension.

The ePUR range features a saturation filter with a visual warning light for filter replacement, and a pulse jet cleaning system. Each purifier can also be fitted with a suction arm to extract fumes at source or for connection to a suction table.

EPUR150 FRESH: the air purifier with evaporative cooling system

The EPUR150 FRESH air purifier has a dual function: in addition to treating fine particles and coarse dust (wood shavings), it has been developed to cool the workspace. The advantage is to reduce the risk of pollution for your operators, while providing them with unrivalled comfort.

FILTOWER: the powerful, versatile air purifier

The FILTOWER range includes stationary purifiers offering increased power to purify the workspace (filtration area from 100 to 200m2). Versatile, FILTOWER purifiers treat dust, odors, fumes, VOCs and oil mist.

Finally, if the unit is fixed, it can be moved using an overhead crane or forklift.
