Entre as tecnologias dispon\u00edveis, os filtros de carv\u00e3o ativado destacam-se pela sua efici\u00eancia, facilidade de utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o, custo <strong>relativamente baixo e versatilidade<\/strong>.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O carv\u00e3o ativado, tamb\u00e9m conhecido como carv\u00e3o vegetal ativado, \u00e9 um material amplamente utilizado na ind\u00fastria para tratar v\u00e1rios poluentes gasosos. A capacidade de adsor\u00e7\u00e3o do adsorvente depende de : <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a <strong>\u00e1rea de superf\u00edcie desenvolvida ou<\/strong> a <strong>\u00e1rea de superf\u00edcie espec\u00edfica do material<\/strong>. Os adsorventes industriais s\u00e3o altamente porosos e <a href=\"https:\/\/obera.fr\/pt-pt\/nosso-conselho\/cov-processus-industriels-quelle-strategie-attenuation\/\">desenvolvem \u00e1reas de superf\u00edcie espec\u00edficas muito grandes<\/a>, de cerca de 600 a 1.500 m\u00b2\/g. Em m\u00e9dia, 10 g de carv\u00e3o ativado t\u00eam a \u00e1rea de superf\u00edcie de um campo de futebol!  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a<strong> concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do poluente org\u00e2nico<\/strong>. Os principais s\u00e3o os filtros que cont\u00eam gr\u00e2nulos ou p\u00f3 ou materiais impregnados de carbono. Os filtros impregnados de carbono t\u00eam apenas uma pequena quantidade de carbono e saturam muito rapidamente quando entram em contacto com os poluentes. Estes materiais impregnados de carbono n\u00e3o s\u00e3o adequados para a maioria das <strong>aplica\u00e7\u00f5es industriais.<\/strong>   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>As vantagens dos filtros de carv\u00e3o ativado<\/strong> residem na sua capacidade de adsorver eficazmente os COV, reduzindo assim as emiss\u00f5es nocivas para a atmosfera. No entanto, a sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o pode ter inconvenientes, como a necessidade de substituir regularmente o carv\u00e3o saturado e os custos associados ao novo carv\u00e3o e \u00e0 elimina\u00e7\u00e3o do carv\u00e3o usado. Se a<strong> concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de poluentes a tratar for demasiado elevada<\/strong>, a carga de carv\u00e3o ativado ficar\u00e1 rapidamente saturada. Por conseguinte, o carv\u00e3o ativado ter\u00e1 de ser substitu\u00eddo frequentemente, ou ser\u00e1 necess\u00e1ria uma grande carga de carv\u00e3o para colmatar o intervalo entre duas substitui\u00e7\u00f5es de carv\u00e3o. A frequ\u00eancia de <strong>substitui\u00e7\u00e3o do carv\u00e3o <\/strong>pode ser calculada da seguinte forma:    <\/p>\n\n<p>T = (1000 x Ch x K \/ (C x Q) :  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>C = Concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do poluente em mg\/m3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Q = Caudal de ar a tratar em m3\/h<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ch = carga de carv\u00e3o em kg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>K = Constante de absor\u00e7\u00e3o em kg de poluente por kg de adsorvente, expressa em % (ver lista)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T = tempo em h entre duas substitui\u00e7\u00f5es em horas de funcionamento<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>\u00c9 praticamente imposs\u00edvel <strong>medir automaticamente a satura\u00e7\u00e3o de um carv\u00e3o<\/strong>, a menos que o poluente seja \u00fanico e recorrente. Tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o existe nenhum par\u00e2metro f\u00edsico que possa ser facilmente medido para determinar o grau de satura\u00e7\u00e3o de um carv\u00e3o. O aumento de peso do adsorvente \u00e9 dif\u00edcil de medir. O &#8220;retorno do odor&#8221; \u00e9 frequentemente o indicador da satura\u00e7\u00e3o do carv\u00e3o. \u00c9 por esta raz\u00e3o que a maior parte dos <strong>filtros de carv\u00e3o ativado<\/strong> est\u00e3o equipados com um contador de horas, de modo a que o carv\u00e3o seja substitu\u00eddo ap\u00f3s um n\u00famero conhecido de horas, ou ap\u00f3s um n\u00famero calculado teoricamente atrav\u00e9s da f\u00f3rmula acima indicada.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ao selecionar um filtro de carv\u00e3o ativado, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio ter em conta v\u00e1rios par\u00e2metros, nomeadamente a natureza dos COV ou dos <strong>poluentes gasosos a tratar<\/strong>, o caudal de ar, a temperatura e a press\u00e3o de funcionamento. Regra geral, o tratamento com carv\u00e3o \u00e9 utilizado abaixo dos 50\u00b0C. Quanto mais elevada for a temperatura, menor ser\u00e1 a capacidade de absor\u00e7\u00e3o do adsorvente.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al\u00e9m da concentra\u00e7\u00e3o, a efici\u00eancia e <strong>a vida \u00fatil dos filtros de carv\u00e3o ativado <\/strong>s\u00e3o influenciadas por uma s\u00e9rie de factores, incluindo a qualidade do carv\u00e3o ativado, as condi\u00e7\u00f5es de funcionamento (temperatura, press\u00e3o e humidade) e as poeiras contidas no fluxo. \u00c9 importante filtrar as part\u00edculas e o p\u00f3 contidos no ar a filtrar, para que os poros do carv\u00e3o n\u00e3o fiquem saturados pelo p\u00f3. Uma humidade relativa elevada tamb\u00e9m reduz consideravelmente a efici\u00eancia e a <strong>vida \u00fatil do carv\u00e3o<\/strong>. Se o vapor de \u00e1gua se condensar, a \u00e1gua em estado l\u00edquido satura os poros do carv\u00e3o como um poluente.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Est\u00e3o a surgir abordagens inovadoras no tratamento de COV industriais, como a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de catalisadores ou de materiais nanocomp\u00f3sitos para melhorar a efici\u00eancia e <strong>a durabilidade dos filtros de carv\u00e3o ativado<\/strong>. Para o conseguir, \u00e9 importante manter os<strong> caudais atrav\u00e9s do carv\u00e3o<\/strong> t\u00e3o baixos quanto poss\u00edvel e, evidentemente, utilizar a maior quantidade poss\u00edvel de carv\u00e3o ativado em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao caudal a tratar. A geometria do filtro \u00e9 muito importante para permitir um longo tempo de contacto. O carv\u00e3o ativado em cartuchos oferece um melhor tempo de contacto do que em leitos.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Para aumentar a efici\u00eancia do tratamento, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel utilizar carv\u00f5es activados quimicamente &#8220;dopados&#8221; ou<strong> misturas de diferentes adsorventes<\/strong>. Existem m\u00e9todos de regenera\u00e7\u00e3o, como a dessor\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica ou a vaporiza\u00e7\u00e3o. Estas t\u00e9cnicas restauram a<strong>efici\u00eancia do carv\u00e3o ativado<\/strong>, reduzindo assim os custos de substitui\u00e7\u00e3o. Quando o carv\u00e3o n\u00e3o pode ser regenerado, pode ser recuperado termicamente, uma vez que tem um elevado poder calor\u00edfico. O poluente deve poder ser tratado com carv\u00e3o ativado. Para ter a certeza, consulta a nossa <a href=\"https:\/\/obera.fr\/pt-pt\/produits\/traitement-cov\/\">lista de poluentes<\/a>.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baixas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de poluentes: o carv\u00e3o ativado est\u00e1 bem adaptado a baixas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es. \u00c0 medida que as concentra\u00e7\u00f5es aumentam, <strong>os processos de oxida\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong> (oxida\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica, oxida\u00e7\u00e3o catal\u00edtica) fazem mais sentido. A oxida\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica faz sentido quando a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 suficientemente elevada para que a combust\u00e3o seja autot\u00e9rmica. Se a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o for insuficiente, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio concentrar o poluente org\u00e2nico ou adicionar g\u00e1s para o queimar.     <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caudal baixo: se o caudal a tratar for baixo, <strong>o tratamento com carv\u00e3o ativado<\/strong> faz sentido porque o equipamento \u00e9 geralmente menos dispendioso do que outras tecnologias, como a oxida\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9rmica, os biofiltros, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Que aplica\u00e7\u00f5es industriais podem ser tratadas com carv\u00e3o ativado?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Os COV s\u00e3o uma classe de<strong> compostos qu\u00edmicos org\u00e2nicos<\/strong> que se evaporam facilmente \u00e0 temperatura ambiente e podem ter efeitos nocivos na sa\u00fade humana e no ambiente. Entre os COV mais frequentemente tratados com carv\u00e3o ativado encontram-se o estireno, o benzeno, o tolueno, o etilbenzeno e o xileno (BTEX), bem como outros hidrocarbonetos arom\u00e1ticos e alif\u00e1ticos e formalde\u00eddos. Para al\u00e9m dos COV, o carv\u00e3o ativado tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 eficaz na<a href=\"https:\/\/obera.fr\/pt-pt\/produits\/traitement-cov\/\">elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de outros poluentes gasosos<\/a>, como os compostos org\u00e2nicos halogenados (COH), gases t\u00f3xicos como o mon\u00f3xido de carbono (CO), compostos odor\u00edferos, vapores de solventes, compostos de enxofre, compostos de azoto e
