What is WorldSkills?
WorldSkills is the world’s largest skills competition. Held every two years, the competition brings together young professionals from all over the world to compete on the same site.
The WorldSkills competition is all about youth, sharing, fair play, effort, excellence, commitment and respect for cultural diversity.
More than 1,600 competitors from over 85 countries test their skills in over 50 different trades. The competition takes place over 4 days.
What does OberA bring to WorldSkills 2022?
OberA provides 2 Dustomat 4.24 mobile industrial dust collectors and 4 3msuction arms to equip 4 stations for the stone-cutting competition.
The Dustomat 4.24 are equipped with class H filtration, ideal for fine dusts that are dangerous to humans, such as those produced by stone cutting.
Automatic cartridge cleaning using compressed air ensures that the equipment remains efficient throughout the competition, without the need for any intervention.
Dust bins allow waste to be disposed of without any contact with dust.

Stonemasonry test procedure
For the main test, participants will have 2 natural stones to cut, according to a sketch. The test is divided into 4 modules, requiring candidates to make templates on sheets of aluminum or zinc, cut 2 pieces of natural stone, draw an engraving or ornament on one of the 2 pieces, and assemble several elements of an architectural ensemble to present the public with an example of the stonemason’s work.
The importance of OberA equipment in stonemasonry and the dangers of crystalline silica
Silica dust, present in many rocks, is very dangerous when inhaled. That’s why the equipment installed for this competition is so important, as it will protect competitors from any health risks associated with silica dust.
Health effects can range from eye and respiratory tract irritation to chronic bronchitis and irreversible pulmonary fibrosis known as “silicosis”. Of course, crystalline silica also plays a role in the development of certain lung cancers.
